A Little About Me

Hey there! I’m Em Radi (any/all), but you may have originally met me as Michael Radi or Musical Theatre Writer Guy on YouTube!

I am a composer, lyricist, librettist, performer, vocal coach, musical director, content creator, and Founder of the Musical Theatre Writing Collective. I currently reside in New York City, and - for those curious - I graduated from SUNY Geneseo with a B.A. in Theatre-English (Summa Cum Laude with Honors and several distinctions). I am also an alumnus of the esteemed Lehman Engel BMI Musical Theatre Writing Workshop as a lyricist, and continue several collaborations formed within the program.

As a writer, I’ve written eight full-length musical theatre pieces, including my original musicals The King’s Legacy and ‘S Wonderful: An Evening with George Gershwin, which both received world premiere productions at the Bristol Valley Theater in Naples, NY (August 2019 and 2021 respectively). The King’s Legacy has also been presented in Industry Reading format, both in fall of 2019 as part of the Dramatists Guild Friday Night Footlights and in November 2016, as well as part of the Emerging Artists Theater Festival in 2014, and in a workshop through the Random Access Theatre in 2013.

I continue to collaborate on other projects as well, including a musical adaptation a witchy, trans, pop-punk musical called The Witching Hours and TWIRL!, mother-daughter coming-of-age musical set in the world of competitive baton twirling, based off my family's history with the sport!

In addition to the writing, I spend a great deal of time as a content creator on YouTube (Musical Theatre Writer Guy), TikTok (michaelradi), Instagram (mtwriterguy), and inside my international online-hybrid community, the Musical Theatre Writing Collective.

I teach musical theatre writing courses in songwriting and libretto writing, as well as coach musical theatre writers and professional vocal clients privately!
