/The first in a new interview series with originating artists - currently called Writer Real Talk - in which I sit down with the composer, lyricist, and librettist Aaron Michael Krueger.
We speak on a very large range of topics, all applicable to musical theatre creators, including mental health, festivals, and our topic of the episode: composing outside your comfort zone. Very worth a watch.
Aaron Michael Krueger is a New York City-based composer, lyricist, and writer hailing from the good 'ole Midwest. His musical New Dawn was a part of the Midtown International Theatre Festival in the summer of 2014. The show was nominated for 9 Awards, and took home 4 (Outstanding Lead Actor In a Musical: Max King, Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Musical: Adam Salazar, Outstanding Book, Music, and Lyrics for a Musical: Aaron Michael Krueger, and Overall Outstanding Production of a Full Length Musical.
Other writing credits include: Super! (Midtown International Theatre Festival) and Grudgical: The Parody Musical with Peej Mele (Open Bar Theatricals) Both his arrangements and original works have been performed at various venues in New York, New Jersey, and Baltimore.
